RECOMMENDED VINYL WRAP CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Wash your wrapped vehicle one or more times per week depending on if your vehicle is exposed to a lot of dirt or pollutants.  Hand washing is the most preferred method to keep your vehicle wrap clean.  Any preferred mild automotive grade wash detergent is acceptable.  Make sure to always use soft, clean automotive grade sponges, wash mitts and micro fiber towels during the washing process.

AUTOMATED CAR WASHES

An automated car wash that uses brushes is not recommended.  Brushes may scratch the wrap or catch an edge creating a failure point.  Touch-less car washes are an acceptable cleaning method, however hand washing is preferred.

PRESSURE WASHING

Although hand washing is the preferred  cleaning method, pressure washing may be used under these specific conditions:

  • Ensure water pressure is kept below 2000psi (14 MPa).

  • Keep water temperature below 180ºF (80ºC).

  • Use a spray nozzle with a 40-degree wide-angle spray pattern

  • Keep the nozzle at least 1 ft. away from and perpendicular to the vinyl

SPOT CLEANING

Spot clean contaminants such as bird droppings, bug splatter, tree sap and similar contaminants immediately to avoid damage to the film.  Start by soaking the area for several minutes with a towel in hot, soapy water and then rinse thoroughly.  You can spot clean with isopropyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, wax & tar remover and simple green.  Always test these solutions in a small, inconspicuous area to ensure the cleaner will not harm the wrap.

(NOTE: Do not use harsh solvents/degreasers or oil based cleaning products)

WAXING

You can wax your wrapped vehicle so long as the wax you use does not contain any petroleum distillates.  This is most commonly found in many paste waxes.

Products that are a combination of a waterless wash and wax are great options so long as the vehicle doesn't have a matte finish and isn't excessively dirty.  Always make sure to test products in an inconspicuous area of the vehicle first.

  • Do not use any abrasive polishes or cutting compounds

  • Do not use any polishing or wax products on matte or textured films

FUEL SPILLS

Wipe off fuel spills immediately, then hand wash the affected area.  Letting the spill stay on the wrap for too long will degrade the vinyl.

VEHICLE STORAGE

Vinyl graphics, like paint, will degrade by prolonged exposure to the sun and atmospheric pollutants, particularly on horizontal surfaces such as the hood, trunk lid and roof.  Whenever possible, store the vehicle in a garage or a shaded area during the day.
